HYPERTHERMIA SOLUTIONS

Hyperthermia is gaining popularity as an effective treatment modality for cancer but several factors have prevented it from becoming widely applied. These include unreliable temperature distribution prediction and large and expensive equipment. A consortium centered in Zurich together with Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam, one of the leading hyperthermia centers in the world, achieved significant breakthroughs  in hyperthermia treatment planning through patient specifc data generated by iSEG and improved applicators for head & neck tumors.

iSEG quickly and easily creates highly detailed 3D patient models based on CT or MRI images. Powerful fully-automatic and interactive segmentation techniques can be flexibly combined to process 2D image data into 3D electromagnetic and thermal models.
